The Great House Publishing Administrative Hub

From idea to publication

Publishing Workflow

A transparent overview of the typical steps in a publishing relationship. Actual timelines and requirements depend on the project and any agreement the parties sign.

The project journey

  1. 01

    Initial inquiry

Share the project concept, format, genre, and publishing goals so the team can understand what you are developing.

  2. 02

    Project review

The publishing team considers fit, readiness, audience, and potential service needs. Additional information may be requested.

  3. 03

    Scope and agreement planning

If discussions continue, the parties identify likely formats, services, rights, territories, responsibilities, and commercial terms.

  4. 04

    Drafting and discussion

A suitable draft is prepared for review. Questions and proposed revisions can be discussed with the appropriate representatives.

  5. 05

    Legal and internal review

The draft and supporting schedules are reviewed by authorized personnel. Each party should consider independent legal advice before signing.

  6. 06

    Approval and signing

The agreement proceeds to signing only after required approvals and final terms are confirmed by the parties.

  7. 07

    Production and publication

Following execution, the project moves through agreed milestones such as editing, design, production, metadata preparation, and release planning.

  8. 08

    Ongoing administration

The team administers the executed agreement, tracks applicable rights and obligations, and maintains relevant project and royalty records.
